Frances Elizabeth "Lizzie" Marcantel, age 89, a native of Beulah, La and a resident of Dequincy, La., died Thursday, January 26, 2012, at Lake Charles Memorial in Lake Charles, La. She was a charter member of New Hope Baptist Church where her faithfulness included serving 55 years as the VBS director, 57 years as the pre-school Sunday school teacher and also a member of the church choir. Lizzie will forever be remembered as a kind lady that "meant what she said and said what she meant". She lived her life by example and demonstrated her love for God and family daily. She was loved by her family and was the "glue" that held them together. Lizzie loved visiting the nursing home and at the age of 80 would tell her family, "Im going to visit the old folks". Lizzie was a wonderful cook and famous for her cat head biscuits. She took great pride in her flower beds and loved flowers and gardening. Her love for God and her faithfulness to his word created a foundation that her family will build on for generations to come.

She was the daughter of the late John Banken and the late Ella Dickens Banken.

She is survived by her

Four Sons, Son-Carroll John "Buck" Marcantel and his wife Jo Ann of Dequincy, La. Son-Bennie Carl "Cotton" Marcantel and his wife Shirley Kay of Dequincy, La. Son-Ronnie Marcantel and his wife Karen of Dequincy, La. Son-Jack Marcantel and his wife Tammy of Dequincy, La.

One Sister, Sister-Annie Marcantel of Sulphur, La.

Sixteen grandchildren Thirty Nine great-grandchildren Three great-great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 58 years - Martin Marcantel, 3 Brothers - Benny Banken, Virgil Banken and Johnny Banken. 2 Sisters - Mary Isdale and Lucille Wilcox.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM Friday, January 27, 2012 and from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM Saturday, January 28, 2012 at New Hope Baptist Church in DeQuincy, La. Funeral service will be at New Hope Baptist Church at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 28, 2012 with Pastor Roland Hebert and Rev. Ron Fox officiating. Interment will be at Mcfatter Cemetery in Dequincy, La.

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing."
